Inspired by the Japanese coffee culture: Crafting the Perfect Medium Roast Blend.

Kobe, Japan, isn't just renowned for its vibrant streets and delicious Kobe beef; it also boasts a deeply ingrained coffee culture, where meticulously roasted beans meet meticulous brewing methods. Having regularly traveled to Japan’s Kansai region since the late 1980’s, Kobe’s vibrant cafe culture has left a huge impression on my appreciation of coffee. When we started Coffee Roasters Asia 10 years ago, I embarked on a journey to capture the essence of Kobe in a cup – and thus, the Kobe Blend was born.

A Fusion of Flavors:

This medium roast blend is a testament to the diversity and quality found in Japanese coffee. Its heart lies in a harmonious union of premium beans from Brazil, Ethiopia, and other carefully selected origins. Each region contributes its unique character:

  • Brazil: Renowned for its smooth, nutty base, Brazilian beans provide the foundation for a rich and balanced cup.
  • Ethiopia: Known for its bright, fruity acidity, Ethiopian Yirgacheffe beans add a touch of vibrancy and complexity.
  • Secret Origins: The remaining components, shrouded in a bit of mystery, are carefully chosen to complement and elevate the overall flavor profile.

The Art of the Roast:

Roasted to a precise medium level, the Kobe Blend strikes the perfect balance between acidity and sweetness. This meticulous roasting process unlocks the beans' full potential, allowing their inherent flavors to shine through without becoming overwhelming.

The Kobe Signature:

So, what does the Kobe Blend taste like? Imagine a symphony of flavors:

  • Rich Caramel and Toffee: These warm, inviting notes provide a comforting sweetness, reminiscent of Kobe's bustling cafes.
  • Fruity Elements: A hint of citrusy brightness, reminiscent of the refreshing teas often paired with Japanese coffee.
  • Sweet Aftertaste: A lingering sweetness lingers on the palate, leaving you with a sense of satisfaction.

Beyond the Cup:

The Kobe Blend is more than just a coffee; it's an invitation to experience Japan through your senses. With each sip, you're transported to the bustling streets, the aroma of freshly roasted beans, and the meticulous brewing rituals that define Kobe's coffee culture.

Brewing Tips:

To fully appreciate the Kobe Blend's unique character, try brewing it using methods that highlight its clarity and balance, like pour-over or drip coffee. Experiment with different grind sizes and water temperatures to find your perfect cup.
